Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt

You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original CD-ROM
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repairs.

This happened to me just 3 days ago, had sleepless nights trying to figure out how to solve this nightmare.
If you're like me, then you'll understand that a lot of work and information goes into the PC.

It's not a joke when your PC crashes after you hard reboot. It's a last resort, sometimes you get away with it, but sooner or later if you'll learn that it pays to have a good back-up system.

A lot of stuff I tried didn't work, which included sending my hard drive to the repairman.

Solution 1: Doing the above prescribed solution by Windows xp installation CD didn't work. The hard disk wasn't being recognized by the automated solution.

Solution 2: Bring it to a computer savvy friend. It didn't work for me either.

Solution 3: Reformat. No way!

Solution 4: Check out all that's out there by search engine. Interesting what you can find out there, but most solutions mirror Solution 1.

Solution 5: I bought a hard disk casing. Fix the hard disk into my new casing and plugged it into a working PC with Kapersky Internet Security 2012. Let it run a quick scan when pop-up appears . The quick scan took quite a while and it shuts down when certain files are not recognized . I safely remove hardware and replug it in again. Run a rescan. By the first scan, a lot of my files were visible again!

Initially on my friend's PC (Solution 2), the hard disk was not detectable, so I used this process.....

Click [start] -------- click [Control Panel] ---------- click [Administrative Tools]..........

click [Computer Management].......... click [Disk Management]

This process revealed the hidden hard disk. But I'm guessing the Kapersky Internet Security 2012 was able to  automatically repair the missing files. I wouldn't have had to go through all the hassle and learned a bunch if I hadn't coincidentally plug the hard disk on a system with this software.

Even if I didn't have the Kapersky Internet Security 2012, it wasn't by chance that I knew that one could be downloaded and installed for free for 30 days.

Can't wait to share this with my friend, and install back the hard disk into the PC to see what happens...

Hard Disk Recovery

OK If the information above was of some help to you then you would probably be looking for a recovery software by now because you would have already been able to access your hard disk, I suppose like me, you'd still be missing your Config.msi files.

The config.msi files were not visible to me until I used the "MiniTool Power Data Recovery" software. The free version allows me to view my damaged, corrupted or missing files and is good for 1gig of data recovery. My affected files were about 8gig. I left it at that for a while, happy to be able to access my important files.

I'm guessing that my hard disk still wouldn't work if I placed it back into my machine and was blessed today in discovering this Data Recovery Software called Pandora Recovery.

Here's the link.

Pandora Recovery (free)

Pandora Recovery was functioning well when I used it with smaller amounts of files but it hasn't evolved into a robust large file handler yet, perhaps they'll improve soon. I'm just happy to be able to run it for free. Looking forward to fully enabling by hard drive again. Fingers crossed.

If you have gone into your web ip address to install a CCTVsoftware to view with program "Video Server E" but unable to do so, then I imagine this solution for you. The above picture is a hint that you're on the right track.

As you click on "Download AP" and receive a redundant link:

and wonder if there's one which will work: click

Then you clicked on "Download Java" and received another redundant link:

Yup, this link didn't work for me as well. The old version 5 of Java is no longer listed there, but here's a link which works: click

If you have an older version of Java 5 in your machine, then after installing the "AV732E/setup.exe" it may work just fine. If it doesn't  then download the older version above first.
